Birth Reflections Healing Service
‘Birth trauma is also not only about what happened during labour and the birth. It can also refer to how you, as the birthing person, are left feeling afterwards.’
Melody Robinson, CEO and founder of All Things Birth & Beyond
‘Birth trauma’ is described as distress experienced by a birthing person during or after childbirth. While trauma can be physical, it is often emotional and psychological. Birth trauma can also be experienced by the child and/or the entire family. It is not isolated to the birthing person, traumatic experiences filter through all involved.
Sometimes the effects of birth trauma can emerge, and continue for, some time after you’ve given birth.
At the time of birth, you may have felt fearful, helpless or unheard. After the birth, it’s possible to feel shocked, guilty or numb and even experience panic attacks or anxiety.
If you are feeling any of these emotions, you may be experiencing birth trauma. If so, you are certainly not alone. It’s been estimated that up to 1 in 3 people who give birth may experience birth trauma.
Factors that can contribute to birth trauma include…
Your childbirth experience not going to plan, or not matching your expectations
Having a difficult labour that was long or painful
You or your baby suffering birth injury
Stillbirth or neonatal death
Not receiving the care or support you needed at the time of birth, or afterwards
Your baby needing medical attention after the birth
Experiencing labour complications
Previous birth trauma
A tendency to experience anxiety
Needing intervention during labour, such as an assisted delivery (using forceps or ventouse) or an emergency caesarean
A person may be especially at risk of trauma during pregnancy, birth and after the birth if they experienced trauma earlier in their life. This can include domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, rape and migration-related trauma.
As a Birth Trauma Healer, I work across 4 pillars – the Conscious, Subconscious, Energetic & Physical. After an initial consultation in which we explore your experience and how I can help you, I will draw upon various modalities to structure our next 2 sessions in a way that can be most impactful for you in your journey towards healing your trauma.
“Trauma isn’t what happened to you, but what happens inside you.”

I help pregnant women and mothers transition through their new, and ever changing roles, so that they feel fully supported and empowered in their monumental transformation that is motherhood…
Matresence: “The process of becoming a mother, coined by Dana Raphael, Ph.D. (1973), is a developmental passage where a woman transitions through pre-conception, pregnancy and birth, surrogacy or adoption, to the postnatal period and beyond. The exact length of matrescence is individual, recurs with each child, and may arguably last a lifetime! The scope of the changes encompass multiple domains –bio-psycho-social-political-spiritual– and can be likened to the developmental push of adolescence.” Aurélie Athan, Ph.D.
Having a prem baby and being unable to breastfeed her for 2 months was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. Having lived in the hospital for one of those months and constantly being told what to do by doctors and midwives, stripped me of my confidence as a mom and a person. We were so lucky that Melody became a part of our family’s journey just before I wanted to give up.
During our 3 sessions together, we will work with a variety of modalities including lightwork, EFT & hypnosis
£240 over a 6 week period
